Les Hôpitaux Shriners pour enfants accueillent leur premier directeur de la gestion des sports.

Professional and collegiate sports are extremely popular and visible arenas. Participation in and partnerships or affiliations with these types of events can add new dimensions to marketing, awareness and fundraising efforts. A new staff position - director, sports management - has been created to manage our presence in this important field

We are pleased to announce that Bob Roller, athletic director of Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, has been selected to serve Shriners Hospitals for Children in this capacity. In this role, he will pull together all of our sports-related functions and events, including those involving the PGA TOUR and the Houston Astros, as well as the East-West Shrine Game. He will work with our marketing and communications and donor relations departments to help our events become more well known and successful. He will also work to ensure cohesiveness, consistency, clarity and innovation in our sports-related efforts.

Roller is highly experienced and well qualified to fill this role. His experience includes more than 30 years in athletic management and 18 years of national marketing, including serving for three years as the Orange Bowl Committee's director of communications and seven years as vice president of college sports for Host Communications. Over the last 18 years, he raised 50 $ million to rebuild the athletic facilities of Samford University and Campbell University. He holds a Master of Science in education administration from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and has a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communications from Virginia Tech University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics, National Association of Athletic Directors of Development and College Sports Information Directors of America.

Our signature events, such as the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open, East-West Shrine Game and the College Classic, are a critically important component of our efforts to raise awareness and visibility of our organizations. We look forward to the vision and expertise that Bob Roller will bring to presenting these programs. We are very excited to have him joining our mission and our team.

Roller began his role as director, sports management for Shriners Hospitals for Children on Jan. 8. We look forward to welcoming him to the Shriners family.
