Policies and safety

Our mission is to ensure a safe and secure environment while providing the highest level of professionalism and customer service.

Security services

  • For emergencies inside the hospital, dial “8” on any hospital phone.
  • For non-emergency or routine security issues, dial “0”.
  • Please report any suspicious activity.

Hospital emergencies

The hospital uses a series of codes to announce emergencies. Emergency management guides describe these codes and are located near phones throughout the building. During an emergency, report to the inpatient nurse's station or assigned patient room (if safe to do so) and await instructions from hospital staff or emergency responders.

During your stay, please do not remove your identification wristbands. For the protection of patients, visitors and staff, hospital staff may ask to check your wristband to ensure you belong in the hospital. If your wristband is lost or damaged, contact the inpatient nurses' station for a replacement.

In addition to responding to emergencies, safety issues and conducting investigations, our staff provides safety escort services and minor vehicle assistance.

Nondiscrimination policy

The mission of Shriners Hospitals for Children is carried out without regard to race, color, creed, sex or sect, disability, national origin or ability of a patient or family to pay. For more information, see our Nondiscrimination Policy.
